Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter School

The staff and teachers of Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter School have taught our students--your students--that their words and actions matter. We have supported them whenever they have stood up to injustice: we have marched with them, attended their rallies, and signed their petitions. We teach our students that they can impact their communities, and the world at large, in positive and powerful ways. Tomorrow, March 8th, female staff at our school will lead by example by participating in the “Day Without a Woman” national strike to highlight the importance of the work that women in our society are doing and the impact that not valuing this work has on our communities. We want you to know that we did not come to this decision lightly--but we are committed to radical social change, and this means we have to be willing to do things that are difficult, unpopular, or have consequences that we don’t love. We recognize this impact, and after deep consideration, have arrived at our decision from a place of integrity and conviction. If you are able and willing, please consider wearing red tomorrow and/or joining us near the Northampton Brewery around 11:15 to march. Both the R41 and B48 PVTA buses will go from Holyoke to Northampton in time for the march. We hope to see you there! We hope to see you there!
