Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.
Quality Public Education=Productive Futures
Quality Public Education=Social Justice
Igualidad is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to assure that every child has access to quality public education and opportunities for a meaningful and productive future.
We began our work in Holyoke, Massachusetts, identified as one of the lowest performing district in the state, where state officials had to eventually take over the running of the schools.
Igualidad helped to initiate The Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter School, a high school developed by experienced educators designated as proven providers by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
The Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter School, a 9th through 12th grade high school, has already made a major change in education. At Paulo Freire, students are prepared for college success and community leadership.
With great teachers, a supportive community, small class size, sixteen students to a class, an extended school day, and evening tutoring, students have made great progress.
Last year, in the third year of start-up, Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter School was honored by US News and World Report as one of the top 100 schools in Massachusetts and given a Bronze Award for schools nationally.
Join us in making quality public education the standard for all children.
