Our school enjoyed 3 1/2 days of a “Paideia” intersession last week! “Paideia” is a Greek word that roughly translates as “a broad cultural education,” and at PFSJ it means that students can choose from a variety of in-depth courses offered by teachers who have passion and expertise in that area. This year’s offerings included both on-campus and off-campus options, such as: Science Field Trips, College Road Trips, Music Writing and Production, Outdoor Winter Survival, Social Justice Films, Drumming and many more! We feel that this opportunity for students to enjoy learning purely for its own sake, and dive deeper into a specific topic, is very much aligned with Paulo Freire’s mission and work.
